"One day you will realize all your hopes and dreams depend on your health"

 Stephen Cherniske

I have been doing a lot research on health and nutrition for many years. I have read the mainstream information as well as the not so mainstream. I have seen the affects of sugar on children and watched parents get frustrated and angry with their children due to something as simple as food. I have also been through it all with my kids.

Like most people, both of my kids are highly affected by low blood sugar. They get frustrated, easily irritated when they haven't had enough good food. We were in Florida at Disney World when they were very young and my daughter started to "lose it" she was whiny and uncomfortable. I knew she needed something to level herself off. We found a pure orange juice stand (not the sugar orange juice, the real stuff) and got her a drink, within minutes she was back to her fun loving self. I learned this the hard way by getting frustrated with her because I didn't know what her problem was so I blamed her.

Learn from my mistakes and think about the good foods for your children. If they are whining about something it is their way of asking for help, don't get angry at them and don't get angry at yourself for not knowing what they need just follow your instincts and  find out what works. My kids are older now and they know when they get irritated easily that they need food, good food not processed food.

Tip: Have easy to eat good nutritionist food in the house that is convenient for your kids to access, a container of ready to eat raw vegetables, washed fruit, anything they can grab and go. My kids favourites was "Vegcicles" a bowl of frozen vegetables, fast easy and nutritious. Great for that time of day I inappropriately called "Arsenic hour"  (help me with a new name will you) that time around 4pm when the kids are tired from a long day, it's too early for dinner and too late for a nap, I would give them a bowl of vegcicles and raw vegetables. They loved it.

Here's a link to some great food I have found that is easy and highly nutritious.
